In June, 2015, Dr. Robert Alexander was nominated as one of the Top 10 innovators in the field of STEM CELL INNOVATION by the international membership of the Academy of Regenerative Practices.
Dr. Robert W. Alexander is an internationally recognized aesthetic and reconstructive surgeon, author, teacher, and pioneer in the use of stem/stromal cells in clinical practice. In addition, he is a highly regarded leader in the field of Biocellular Regenerative Medicine™.
Dr. Alexander's work in the use of adipose-derived stem/stromal cells combined with high-density platelet concentrates in the areas of aesthetic surgery, open flap surgery, chronic wound therapy, and orthopedic medicine are considered novel and important contributions to the evolution of regenerative medicine.
Dr. Alexander graduated Magna Cum Laude from St. Louis University School of Dentistry and Medicine, and with full honors from the University Florida School of Medicine (Gainesville). He completed his surgical Residency at the University of Texas, Southwestern Medical School at Parkland Memorial Hospital. He is Board Certified by the American Board of Cosmetic Surgery (General). His early experiences in basic applied research were supported by NIH pre and post-doctoral research grants have led to multiple advances in medicine and surgery. His contributions in the areas of craniofacial trauma, reconstruction of growth and developmental and congenital defects, pathology and aesthetic surgery of the head, neck and body have been well recognized and highly regarded by his peers, including the induction as a Fellow in the prestigious International College of Surgeons (FICS).
As the Chairman of the Department of Maxillofacial/Craniofacial Surgery at the University of Florida (JHEP), Dr. Alexander was responsible for an accredited (post-doctoral) Surgical Residency training program. Following a four year academic appointment, he returned to Seattle, Washington, where he established a very successful private practice as well as an esteemed part time academic practice. In addition, Dr. Alexander taught multiple full year Fellowships for Board Certified or eligible surgeons, following their respective completions of accredited Residency programs (1990-2008). Publication of numerous articles in peer-reviewed medical literature, contributions to multiple textbooks, and appearances as a featured speaker in various national and international venues on the subjects of plastic surgery and regenerative medicine applications, particularly those in musculoskeletal and orthopedic applications, have led to the global recognition of Dr. Robert Alexander's accomplishments in the regenerative medicine arena.
As the recipient of multiple awards and honors in the areas of his primary specialty, as well as in the evolving uses of stem/stromal cells, Dr. Alexander continues his academic affiliation with the University of Washington in Seattle, alongside practicing and teaching the latest advances in Biocellular Regenerative Medicine™ treatments in plastic surgery and orthopedic regenerative medicine.
Using his scientific orientation and experiences, his wide scoped clinical and surgical experiences combine to make him an acknowledged and respected expert in the areas of anti-aging and cellular therapies across multiple disciplines of medicine and surgery.
